From the 19th Century to the 21st Century
History Just Repeats Itself

Look closely at the buildings in the background of this picture and it shows how little things have changed in 170 years.
We've all seen those images of evictions from the 1840's and up through the rest of that century. They're in our school history books, they're in newspaper articles from those times and they're now scattered about the internet. We regard those scenes with repugnance and disgust, a part of our history that we hate and hoped never to see again.
Look around you at what's happening over a century later. History is repeating itself again. The only difference is that instead of absentee landlords and British backed authorities throwing people out onto the roads, it's banks, councils and our own Gardaí doing it. But the end result is exactly the same as it was 150 years ago and now it's Irish people doing it to Irish people. Surely we've moved on from those dark times in the 19th Century, or have we just exchanged one predatory group for another?
As long as we let them do it, nothing will change!
Unless we change it ourselves.

We strongly recommend you read through some of the articles on these links. The issues we face today go back a lot longer than people realise.
And don't forget where the word 'Boycott' originated from.
